This is shot from a point of view angle but the attacker is hidden by light shining over the face to disguise the fact that Norman Bates it also his mother. This images shows the mother with the knife comi8ng from above and this shows that this character is much more powerful than the persons whos point of view it is shot from. This knife is seen as a phallic symbol.
